Boulangerie Hotel Karel was founded eight years ago under the name Bar Hotel Karel. At the time, the bar operated as a lunchroom with a changing breakfast, lunch, and drinks menu.
Over the years, the focus shifted toward the craft of bread baking, leading to a complete transformation from bar to bakery. With great success: people now come from far and wide for Hotel Karel’s authentic sourdough bread.
Since November 2025, Boulangerie Hotel Karel has been located on the other side of the building, at Driekoningenstraat 39a. In the renewed bakery, a dedicated team bakes the beloved sourdough bread and a wide range of viennoiserie every day. Both breakfast and lunch are served in true boulangerie style, featuring fresh, artisanal products straight from the oven.

At the Boulangerie, it’s not just about bread — from Tuesday to Sunday you can enjoy fresh delights such as croissants, pain au chocolat, cinnamon buns, cakes, and focaccia. Everything in the bakery is homemade, fresh, and seasonal. And of course, a good cup of coffee is always on the menu.
The boulangerie is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 8:00 to 15:00. Since the renovation, breakfast and lunch have also returned to the menu. Please note: reservations are not possible!
